He was one of the most familiar faces on TV during the 80s and 90s.

Max Wright played the father on the 80s sitcom ALF and a role in the 1999-2001 series The Norm Show. He is buried here in Michigan in the Fairview Cemetery within the town of Linden, Genesee County.

Max was born George Edward Wright on August 2, 1943 in Detroit. As a teen, his family moved to Southfield where he attended high school and became interested in an acting career. Once he started, he began using the first name ‘Max’ instead of George so he wouldn’t be confused with a handful of other actors with the same name.

Max’s major claim to fame was as dad ‘Willie Tanner’ in the sitcom ALF – a role he eventually came to despise, playing second fiddle to a puppet. He considered himself to be a more accomplished actor who deserved better roles.

He also guested on a few episodes of Friends as ‘Terry’ at the Central Perk.

Max passed away at the age of 75 on June 26th, 2019 from lymphoma. His grave can be easily found in Linden’s Fairview Cemetery; he shares a plot with his brothers Dennis and Terry, and his mother Donna. But where is his father’s grave, unless there’s more to his story than we are aware of?
