A new study from Compare the Market analyzed power outage hotspots across America that weren't related to major weather events, such as equipment failures, grid maintenance problems, tree limbs, transformer issues, or other disruptions unrelated to severe weather.

The study worked out that the cost was an estimated $27.81 per household annually. Multiply that by 4.04 million Michigan households, and the blackout bill hits $112.4 million a year.
