Who Recalls Jackson’s Crescent Motel on Ann Arbor Road?
Historic information on the Crescent Motel at 6027 Ann Arbor Road seems to be extremely scarce. Although it has been called the Colonial Inn for quite a number of years, there is hardly any info on either place.
We know it was called the Crescent back in the 1960s, but when did it originally open? How much further did it last under that name? My memory may be a little fuzzy, but didn’t it last into the 1970s? When did it become the Colonial Inn?
My best memories of the Crescent/Colonial is when the old Clock Restaurant used to be next door. We used to go the Clock many, many times to eat...it was great... open 24 hours!

I vaguely recall the restaurant inside the Crescent but I sure as shootin’ do not remember what decade that was.
The Crescent of old was very different from how it appeared before the Colonial took over. It was pushed further back from the road; it must have been renovated pre-Colonial as later pictures and postcards show it much closer to the road.
The motel – no matter what name it used – was where many weary truckers stayed during their journeys, after enjoying a meal at Williams Truck Stop across the road. Scroll down a ways to see some old images when it was called the Crescent all those years ago...
