Wrangler’s Restaurant in Howell: Re-opening or Not?
Wrangler’s is/was/is? located at 4020 W. Grand River Avenue by the Livingston County Airport in Howell. I say is/was/is because it’s been closed since the ‘pandemic’ and there have been rumblings about it re-opening, possibly in a new building.
Wrangler’s shut down permanently (allegedly) on May 12, 2020 due to forced closings caused by the pandemic. Many Michigan bars and restaurants were closed to serving dine-in customers since mid-March due to the order given by Governor Gretchen Whitmer, with no re-opening date given. Carryout service was continued, however.
Wrangler’s operated for many years before its 2020 closing, with live bands and dancing...a favorite place for many Howell and outlying residents. It has been empty since 2022.

But it’s a possibility it could be back in a new building under the same name.
A new venture is being discussed that would be a two-story structure with a bar, restaurant, live music, entertainment and rooftop patio. The old building would have to be demolished so the new, sharper-looking venue could be erected. It would hold 250 people in approximately 7,000-square-feet.
The current parking lot would be ripped apart as well and replaced with a lot containing 83 parking spaces, four barrier-free spaces, and thirteen motorcycle spaces.
The location of the new Wrangler’s is a good idea, since the spot is now considered to be a local historic site. To find out more, check out this link:
