2026 is finally here, and if past years are any indication, it'll bring a mix of predictability and some surprises.

How many times last year did you hear someone say, "I didn't have that on my 2025 bingo card!" Except no one actually had a 2025 bingo card. So with your help, we thought we'd actually create one for Mid-Michigan for 2026.

What’s on the 2026 Mid-Michigan Bingo Card

We tried to fill it with a mix of likely scenarios, things that wouldn't really surprise us, and some wishful thinking.

Center space is "the proliferation of potholes", because, let's be real. It's Michigan. We can count on that. Everybody gets to mark that one.

Travel & Road Predictions for 2026

Other travel-related spaces on our 2026 Mid-Michigan bingo card give a nod to the seemingly never-ending construction on U.S. 127 in Lansing, Michigan Avenue, and the number of trucks that we think will find themselves stuck under the low bridge on Pennsylvania Avenue.

Sports Teams We’re Rooting For

We hope the best for the 2026 Detroit Tigers, as well as this year's football Spartans.

As of January 2, Michigan residents can order the semiquincentennial version of the state's iconic red, white and blue plate that was so popular in the mid-1970s. We think it'll end up being the state's most popular plate in 2026. (Photos via Canva and JR, Townsquare Media Lansing)

Some of the bingo spaces have to do with our weather. A 75-degree day in February? A 30-degree day in May? All within the realm of possibility. A winter storm in April? Wouldn't be the first time.

We've all heard it: "Didn't have that on my 2025 bingo card..."
Well, we figured we'd actually make a bingo card for 2026 and see how we do.

It wasn't so long ago that most restaurants were open seven days a week. Ever since COVID, a lot of places have taken to closing on Mondays - but not everyone. Here are 21 Lansing-area non-chain restaurants that are actually still open on Monday. (There are others that may not be included on this list.)
