Like most Midwesterners, Michiganders are people who take pride in our work. We work hard to get everything we have.

What Does “Midwest Rich” Really Mean?

We don't often splurge on crazy luxuries. Instead, we do have a few things that make us feel 'rich'.

I'm not talking about having oodles of money, necessarily. Just those little things that make living life in the Midwest feel special. I present to you the things that make you feel Midwest Rich.

Things That Make You Feel "Midwest Rich"

Check out the list below. Can you consider yourself Midwest rich?

The Garage Fridge/Beer Fridge

Having a second fridge that lives in your garage or basement, whose primary function is to be the beverage fridge is 'Midwest Rich 101'.

Owning a Pool

And I'm not talking about a kiddie pool, I'm talking about a real pool. If you have one of those, above or below ground, you're basically a country club.

Having a Riding Lawn Mower

This is the Midwest version of being on a high horse.

Owning a Snow Blower

Not having to hand shovel your driveway and sidewalk is next level.

Having a Deep Freezer

This is a step beyond a garage fridge. The deep freeze is typically filled with deer meat and the bulk chicken breast you got on sale six months ago.

Central Air

Having something for the whole house that is more than a box fan or window unit is truly Midwest luxury.

Owning More Than One Grill

You've got the gas and charcoal grill to cover both bases. And maybe, if you're extra fancy, you've got a smoker or a Blackstone.

Having a Camper or RV

These are big ticket items that you only use seasonally, basically Midwest opulence on wheels.

Season Ticket Holders

Maybe it's a minor league team, like the Lansing Lugnuts. Or, maybe you've got season tickets to the Tigers, Red Wings, or Lions. If you've got these, you've truly made it.

A Place on the Lake

Or at least access to one. If you've got a friend or family member that will let you come spend some weekends up north, you're doing just fine.
